My hero, hands down, is my better half - my husband. After 9 years in the US Army (and many more to come), he has proven over and over what it means to be a hero. He's an amazing father to our children, a great leader and an inspiration to me everyday.
People often ask me 'How do you do it? How do you keep it together while he is gone all the time?' ..and though it's not an easy life for me at times, I've started to realize that HE is the one that they should be in awe of, not me! I couldn't imagine leaving him and our kids for long periods of time. What strength that must take. He works his butt off to provide for our family and never complains. He has served 12 months in Afghanistan and so many TDYs that I've lost count. He is always prepared to better himself and his career in any way possible, and on top of all of that... jumping out of perfectly good airplanes is just another day at the office for him.
So, while I appreciate those that acknowledge the difficult lifestyle we live and how it's not always easy keeping it together alone.. he is the one who is the hero. He's the biggest blessing in my life and I don't tell him often enough how much I truly love him and how happy I am to have my own real-life hero by my side in this crazy, beautiful life.♥

You know, lots of young wives say this. But I can tell you, I know that you mean it. I have seen Houston and you through the years. He's always been a man who accepted his responsibilities gladly and met them to the very best of his abilities.
ReplyDeleteHe may not always be able to be where you are but he is always there for you.
He is a Godly man who serves his God, his country, and his family with all that God gave him.
A real hero in these days.
Please thank your husband for his service from me. This is such a great post. It sounds like you've got a great attitude. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWow you are one strong family. Your husband is an amazing man and a true hero. So are you :)
ReplyDeleteHe's my hero too! I have several mommy friends who are wives of soldiers. It takes a special kind of trust and faith. Thanks to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteAs a military brat and a military wife, I couldn't agree more that our men and women in uniforms are the true hero. I always say I look forward to the day we celebrate the men who protect our country more than the ones who protect a ball.
ReplyDeletePlease thank your husband for his service. What a wonderful thing Maytag is doing.
